Practice can be fun AND effective! Here are 3 tips to make the most of the daily practice routine!
1. CONSISTENT AND BRIEF PRACTICE SESSIONS
Keep it short and sweet. It's more effective for students to practice consistently (5 or 6 days a week) for shorter durations of time, than inconsistently for longer amounts of time. And we maintain better focus and accomplish more!
2. HAVE A GAME PLAN
Set goals - start with some scale warm ups, a few minutes of sight reading, and when you get to your repertoire, instead of repeating it again from the beginning, instead just focus on the tricky sections. What is the part of the piece that you're struggling with most? Commit to having that section be the focus of the day's practice.
3. TAKE IT SLOW
The metronome is your friend! Slow down those tricky sections and take your time. There's no rush, and the music will thank you!
