Meet the Founder
Allegría Piano founder and instructor Michelle Casillas is a New York Times-acclaimed performing artist whose work has been featured in film, on radio, and in the New York Times Playlist. An international performer recognized by Time Out New York, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, the All Music Guide, and the Village Voice, Michelle brings a deep love of music performance, extensive experience and warmth to her teaching.
Born into a family of musicians and educators in New York City, she holds a BA in Music from New York University where her studies integrated performance, composition, and music education. She has provided piano instruction—both privately and in classrooms—for over 20 years.
Michelle's teaching blends the rich culture of classical training with the creativity of modern musicianship across all genres, guiding students to cultivate refined skill, confidence, presence, and joy in self-expression.


About Allegría Studio
Conveniently located in Manhattan’s Upper East Side, in the Carnegie Hill / Yorkville neighborhood, the Allegría Piano Studio hosts all student performances on a world-class Model A Mason & Hamlin grand piano.
Concerts are held locally on a Model A Steinway grand piano, giving students the opportunity to perform on handcrafted instruments of the highest distinction — a setting that promotes optimal technique and musicianship.
The Accelerated Piano Studio
Alongside our grand piano performance space, our Accelerated Piano Studio combines advanced technology with personalized, high-level training, collaboration and artistic growth.
Outfitted with four state-of-the-art digital pianos and synchronized iPads, the studio offers an immersive environment for skill development and refined musicianship.
Interactive, technology-enhanced exercises keep learning engaging and effective, while ensemble collaboration and performance workshops encourage creativity and confidence.
